I just wanted to ask a few things, how do guilds get on the guild ladder on the guildwars website, and how do guilds actually fight each other?

You have to use a Celestial Sigil to purchase a Guild Hall. Then you can go to the Guild Hall (an area for your guild) and click "Enter" to participate in Guild versus Guild combat.
